Brooke & George

Our Love Story

George and I met at science camp in 2013 and started dating in 2014. The camp/experience was aimed at taking youths into universities to show them practical STEM. We were both staff members who formed a friendship really quickly, bonding over the same nerdy things such as Star Wars.

I lived in Brisbane and George lived in Warrnambool. We decided to keep things simple and long distance while I completed my degree. With trips flying up and down the country, George gave me great excuses for holidays.

In December 2018 George proposed in Warrnambool while I was down visiting with a beautiful ring featuring an Olivine. These stone were mined locally in Mortlake and was symbolic of me moving to the area. George even rang my father while I was on the plane.

In January 2020, I moved from Brisbane to Warrnambool and moved in with George. Ironically, we had to battle the bush fires, floods and the start of COVID in the process of moving. From February 2020 onwards, George and I found happiness with each other while being tested through 2 years of lockdowns. We love our nerdy film/tv, the occasional music festival, and our joint interest in the community through our local Rotary club.

George loves his video games and Tesla cars; I love the Australian music scene and technology. We balance each other really well and have absolutely loved being there for each other. We live in Warrnambool with our 2 cats Barney and Puss, and frankly, couldn't be happier.

The Day

We must have picked the hottest day in January; it was 38 degrees.

All the vendors we chose made the day so much easier and stress free. They are true professionals.

My close friends were down from Brisbane and both George and I woke to people helping us get ready. The girls from Blush Bar were just brilliant. We had a casual morning at the bridal Airbnb where we all got ready, ensuring we were well fed and hydrated.

The guys went for a barber appointment and spent their time playing video games. Both wedding parties got ready and headed to the dog rocks in Geelong (Stonehaven).

It was so hot, but George and I were excited to see each other. We did a first look, and we were both speechless. We all proceeded up to Dog Rocks where we got some amazing photos before the ceremony, Ash the photographer was just amazing.

We headed to the wedding ceremony venue, Rocklea Farm to cool off before the ceremony.

Once everyone was down under the tree, the wedding party loaded up into the Tesla's and drove down to the venue. It was imperative to George that he wanted to use the families Tesla cars as the wedding cars, and honestly, they looked amazing.

We wanted a short, simple and sweet ceremony, and the celebrant Izzy did that to a tee. Fun and casual, with music from Lord of the Rings, Indiana jones and Star Wars. Our ceremony was everything that encompassed us. We both love the environment, and the majestic Gum Tree was the perfect place for the ceremony.

On a hot day, Boutique Event Co did a brilliant job getting everyone hydrated after the ceremony.  The reception features some live jazz and canapes, it was a great afternoon. We had the lawn games and photobooth on offer which were well used due to such a sunny day.

Elderberry Events exceeded my expectations for table settings and styling. We used cookies for place settings, eliminating the need for paper printed anything for the table as we wanted to try and be environmentally conscious with choices. We also added a small laser cut bamboo disk with a B&G on it (with a magnet glued on), and a scientific flask filled with smarties as a nod to how we met at science camp. We also added a wedding bingo card as something fun to do.

The food was amazing, so tasty! The band could not be faulted. Just everything was amazing.

We went for sunset photos and Ash just knew how to manipulate the light for perfect shots. I look at these shots now and think they are from a magazine.  John our videographer was stung by a bee yet kept going on to ensure he captured everything Note: we did seek medical help from a guest who was a doctor.

The whole day flew by and before we knew it, we were running down the guard of honour and headed to the hotel.

I love our wedding and wouldn't change anything. it was perfect for us and highlighted our loves in life (including cookies of our cats!)
