Gemma & Ash
Our Love Story

While Friday the 13th can be unlucky for some, it wasn't for Gemma and Ash who would first meet on this date in 2020. Word had got out that a little thing called COVID had entered Australia and that there was a possibility Australian's might be locked up in their homes for a few weeks. So, Gemma and her friends thought they better make the most of their freedom and embarked on drinks at various bars in Geelong. While they were having a great time, Gemma was tired after a big working week and was keen to ghost the group who were talking about heading to one of Geelong's classiest establishments, a nightclub called Lamby's. Thankfully, Gemma relented and agreed to 'one' more drink.
Ash had also headed out that evening and was standing at the bar when he struck up conversation with Gemma. They got along immediately, talked for ages, shared some laughs and connected right away. A bit of a dance and few drinks later they exchanged numbers. During the next week they exchanged a lot of texts, and both felt excited to see each other again. In fact, so excited was Ash, that prior to even going on their first date, he'd secured a second one, confident that he and Gemma would have a good time and trying to rush some dates in prior to lockdown.

The Day

Our vendors were the BEST! Ash Hughes (Photographer) making two people who don't really enjoy being in front of the camera, super comfortable and making us laugh the whole day. It's bringing a smile to our faces when we think about Ash (husband) and Gemma being under her veil getting some romantic shots and Ash Hughes jumping under there with us securing the most beautiful shots.
Lainie Brookman was so kind with her time and my dress was so stunning. She made the whole process of designing and making my dress effortless.
Matt and the team at the Wharf Shed, from the moment we met Matt we knew he was our kind of person. With his experience in coordinating events, he made the whole process effortless. No ask was too big, he always had a huge smile on his face and wanted to ensure our day was one to remember and we will never be able to thank him enough for his efforts.
Jo Betz captured and facilitated our love story perfectly, regularly checked in with us to ensure we were happy with the ceremony.
Bel from BelCo Events, breathtaking bouquets for the bridal party and family, a true professional and all-round lovely human.
Kirra and Montanna pampered the bridal party, and it was a pleasure having two beautiful humans apart of our day. Nothing was too much of an ask, happy to be guided by our own styles.
Abe Anderson made our day complete with a beautiful selection of tunes to capture our special moments and first dance.
