Our Love Story

Our gorgeous love story started one cosy winters night at the snow in front of a fire in the ski lodge. After chatting all night, we just knew that we were each other's person.

Life brings you the person you need at the right time, and this was certainly the case for us.

We have been living an incredible love story traveling the world, spending time with our friends and family and of course many trips back to the snow.

In July 2021 Matt proposed and made all of 'Mel's dreams come true.

The Day

After a whole week of rain, we work up to blue skies and sunshine, (it was a sign). The morning started with a long breakfast. I (Mel) had a quite moment in the living room to myself writing my vowels out on my vowel card. This particular moment was so soul filling and a really humble time to take a minute to cement these incredible words I was about to promise to my husband. The remainder of the morning was full of getting ready and setting up our reception to just the way we envisioned it.

Walking out the doors and down the aisle and seeing my future husband was probably the most memorable moment for me. As I stepped out, I knew there was nowhere else in the world I was supposed to be.

Another memorable moment was the incredible speeches given by our most loved. Matt is from New Zealand and Mel''s mum learnt welcome to the family'' in Maori and finished her speech this way. The whole room erupted with pure excitement and joy at this.

It was important to us to use small local business on the day to help support these business after COVID.

We also wanted to include as many people as possible in our wedding. Having Matt''s dad give us our wedding rings. Matt''s sister and Mel's uncle be our official witness, our very talented friend made the cake and Berni Harrison (from the voice 2017) a good friend of ours sing our first dance song.

We had 3 groomsmen, 2 bridesmaids and a bridesman, plus 3 flower girls. Our bridesman walked down after our flower girls and hyped our guests up shouting "she's coming, omg wait till you see her!".

Mel's earrings were snowflakes which was a nod to the day and place we met. I really wanted to include Matt's heritage on the day. On my bouquet I had a traditional Maori single twist necklace wrapped around my bouquet. It represents the lives of two people intertwining. Matt's Aunty had this made and was gifted to me on my 30th birthday.

Sitting with my new husband at the dinner table for our first meal together during our reception was a feeling like no other and one we will cherish for a lifetime.
